A ± 4000m braid made from various materials that acts both as guide to the entire constellation and as an artwork in its own right. Much like the golden thread that Ariadne gave to Theseus in the labyrinth, or Rapunzel’s hair, this braid symbolises the trail of thought or action that could deliver us from the madness of our time – an escape route, the way out.

The ‘superbowl’ is an installation incorporating more than 200 bowls created by individual collaborators according to the ‘recipe’ described in ‘Homeopathy for a fractured world’, as well as several vessels that were constructed out of the shards of the initial twin bowls. The largest of the bowls contains physical shreds of every single twin bowl – both in its own make-up and the shards of its twin that is contained in its belly. Visitors are invited to dedicate and break their own set of bowls and add it to the constellation.

A saturated saline solution at the bottom of the whipping post brings to mind the tears of women witnessing the suffering and death of their children, lovers and fathers – the salt crystals creeping up the post – hopefully to one day embalm it and put it to rest. Visitors are invited to partake in the ritual of adding saline to the pond.

This sculpture made from animal bones is for my mother – she told me that she once saw a horrific photograph somewhere of a prince that came to south africa to hunt – and they shot millions of animals – they were lying in huge mounds, and he was posing proudly in front. This image echoed in my mind when I read this poem by….., translated by Antjie Krog – It is my offering to all of them, the spirits of those animals, towards re-wiring that string.
