2007: trans_end online constellation

trans_end constellated in my field as a logical conclusion to the previous constellation event in which we looked into the past towards our cultural, biological, spiritual and natural ansisters in an attempt to get guidance in how we create today. Another way would be to step into the future, and use imagination and visioning to contact our tr_ancestors (those who come after us) and enter a conversation. The need to do so, springs from a wish to impact the present. When we meet our future selves and create a space in which their voices can be activated in the present, the possibility exists to find a way (amongst many) to move beyond the current confines of consensual thought and collective fears about the future. We move beyond an experience of time as linear, of identity and outcomes as fixed, into a landscape of possibility.

Eugenie Grobler

Trans_end is an attempt at creating a constellation of viewpoints looking towards a future through and beyond the imagined and awaited apocalypse of consensual thought. If a dream is seen as a manifestation of an individual’s psychological projectory, and often interpreted as a warning regarding the direction things are heading in, religious* myth can be seen as a collective psychological projectory. The warning inherent in the collective dreams of the apocalypse in more than one major religion of our time doesn’t need an army of psychologists to interpret it.

“I want to set up trans_end gatherings to discuss building an online constellation that can, and would, only live there. From this virtual expression the physical world experience/constellation could grow. The focus will not be on information and display, but will be a place where people can go and experience artistic vision translated into virtual space. I want us to set up a web address as a permanent artwork. I'm hoping that as a group we will encompass enough technical know-how and soul caring to build something truly amazing...”

2005: ansisters

The Ansisters event has come and gone, but work has continued in the form of workshops and the newly formed Forum. Plans to build the Ansisters online gallery and catalogue are also underway.

We thank all the sponsors, participants, helpers, Constitution Hill and the media for making this event such an enormous success.

Because this is a non-profit venture, we need assistance in terms of funding to further develop workshop, forum, website and event programs. If you feel that you can be of assistance, please contact Eugenie Grobler at or .

2004: Searching for a Saviour

The Searching for a Saviour project formed part of the Bonolo Botshelo (Fragile Life) exhibition at Museum Africa in March 2004. It grew around one central idea that each artist explored in her (or his) own medium and style. However, within the context of the space we found that each work informed the other, and it became apparent in the process of setting up and solving little practical problems, that the organic flux of meaning encapsulated throughout the whole installation, was far greater than the sum of the parts.
